Discover 118 acres of trails, trees and wildlife with over 1000' of waterfront. Rainbow Cottages Resort is available year-round - come experience the change of seasons first-hand! Summer's heat, the spectacular colours of autumn, winter cross-country skiing and dog-sledding on-site,the rebirth of spring.
For families, couples and groups, we have a beach and swimming area, watersports - waterskiing, canoeing, sailing and paddle-boating. For children, we have a playground and other outdoor activities. We strive to keep our cottages comfortable and very clean. We provide all the necessities of an excellent vacation, cottages with many added touches. Feel free to discover our area on foot, by boat or by car, or just by relaxing and watching it all go by ... Unwind in the calm beauty of the Otonabee. Relax on your private deck at your cottage, join others at the beach or the playground, rediscover nature on 118 acres of trails, trees and wildlife, explore the environmental restoration projects or venture further afield to one of the area's fine attractions and festivals. For golf enthusiasts, many excellent courses are located nearby. We are just minutes from Peterborough; for a night out, why not explore one of the many restaurants and nightspots, or the casino? If a day trip is more your style, there are museums, art galleries, historic landmarks, farmers' markets, arts and craft shows and other events during the seasons. |


| FACILITIES DESCRIPTION |
Rainbow Cottages Resort is located on a 118 acre expanse of private property on the Otonabee River, just north of Rice Lake. The size of the property enables us to provide many activities on one site. While you are a guest of Rainbow, you can do as much - or as little - as you like. Perhaps you wish to do nothing more strenuous than contemplate the seemingly magical shapes the clouds make as they leisurely travel across the blue sky. Or perhaps a brisk walk and guided tour of the worlds' largest rice lake plains tallgrass prairie restoration site is more your style. In the winter, experience dogsledding - or the comforting fire. There are many things to do at Rainbow throughout the seasons.
On-Site Activities: canoes, paddleboats, sailboat, water-skiing, aluminum boats (14', with 9.9 hp electric-start motor), bass boat (17', with 60 hp motor), pontoon boat (21', with 50 hp motor) safe, sandy beach, sandy shoreline and sandy underwater (no rocks, no weeds) sightseeing - by boat, by car, by walking birding - ask for our extensive guide to birds at Rainbow playground - swings, sandbox, tetherball picnic tables, shady spaces horseshoes, croquet, balls of all sizes walking and biking trails guided tours of marshlands, woodlands, tallgrass prairie (grasses and wildflowers) fishing - for walleye, bass, panfish, bluegill and perch, muskie, carp winter activities include cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, dogsledding and relaxing.... maple syrup demonstrations in season, and tours year-round
Activities in the Area: in Peterborough: the Zoo, the Liftlocks, shopping, dining, golf course, flea market, and other wonders of a small city (ask us for details and ideas!). in the surrounding countryside: Lang Pioneer Village, golf courses (33 courses within 45 minutes, ask for our Golf Guide), antique shopping, harness race track, car race track, casinos (gaming tables and slots), Warsaw Caves, Petroglyphs Park, museums, historical plaques, horseback riding (3 stables), and lots more (just ask!). there are many small rural Ontario towns in the area - Port Hope, Cobourg, Millbrook, Keene, Hastings, Bewdley, Bailieboro, Gore's Landing - many have an unique character and sights to see. Of interest to our overseas and American guests: Rainbow Cottages Resort is conveniently located in central Ontario to serve as a base for touring throughout central and southern Ontario. We are only 1.5 hours from Toronto, 3.5 hours from Ottawa and 3.5 hours from Niagara Falls. Enjoy the activities, attractions and events throughout southern Ontario and return to Rainbow for a comfortable vacation.
