GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Southview is a family owned and operated cottage resort on the north shore of Rice Lake. Great fishing has been the main reason why over the past 55 years vacationers from all over Canada, the United States and around the Globe have come to Southview Cottages. Southview Cottages offers comfortable to luxurious accommodations for families, couples and groups on our 43 acres of scenic countryside. On the premises you can try out the heated swimming pool or the children's wading pool with fountain. There is plenty of room on the pool deck to stretch out and enjoy the warmth of another Canadian summer. Don't forget the beach. Kids and adults alike will still be drawn to the sand and intrigue of the lake. Bring along your pitching wedge and putter to work on your short game at our new tee off and putting green. Our new sport court is ideal for basketball, roller hockey, skate boarding and mini tennis. Start your day as you like, on the lake fishing before dawn, drinking coffee while watching the mist lifting off the lake, or a beautiful sunrise, and listening to the relaxing sounds of nature. Small wildlife abounds at the resort. Feed our resident chipmunks and squirrels and enjoy the 2 nesting pair of Osprey which return each year to the delight of all. Nearby, you can visit Kawartha Downs for the slot machines or their exciting harness racing or car racing, tour Lang Pioneer Village, play a round of golf at your choice of golf courses, enjoy free The Festival of Lights show, on twice a week in Peterborough, or dine out at one of our many great local restaurants. Three unique, enchanting communities, within 30 minutes of driving, offer live theatre, cinema, antique shopping, festivals, country fairs, Jamborees, art galleries and museums. Remember your childhood... carefree days filled with fun and adventure. It can all be shared with your family. There are Walleye (Pickerel), Large and Small Mouth Bass, Muskie, Perch, Crappie and Bluegill just waiting for you to drop your line into the clean waters of Rice Lake. Our boat and motor fleet will take you to where you want to go. We have 14' boats with 9.9 hp motor, 16' deluxe boats with 15 hp electric start, 16' bass boats with 50 hp and 24' Pontoon boats for fishing or cruising. For the children, we have our safe playground with swings, sandboxes, jungle-gym and our toy train, made for climbing or crawling through. We cater to fun holidays for all. On our beautifully landscaped property, we have 50 cottages, every one of them within steps of our 1400 feet of shoreline and board-walk. The cottages are all very cosy with the necessities of home. For the recreational vehicle or camping enthusiast, we have 11 full service RV sites which include the use of our clean modern comfort station.
