GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Mekoos can accommodate up to 150 guests at a time. Our rustic-looking cottages are built of logs. They are fully equipped to ensure that you enjoy a very comfortable stay. Except for the off-site cottages, you have access to electricity and all have a bathroom with a shower and running water. Mekoos is proud of its dining room, which is headed by an experienced chef who can satisfy the fussiest palate. The "chef" suggests you start your day with a hearty breakfast. You will be quite taken by the lunch, whether you have it in the dining room or on the terrace. If you have a day-long adventure ahead of you, the "chef" will prepare a succulent picnic basket for you. As for dinner, you will be served a four-course meal in warm and pleasant surroundings. A more than enviable wine list caps each meal. You have chosen the American plan. It could be that, after your fishing expedition, you would like to taste the fish you caught that day. The "chef" will prepare some of them for you with pleasure and will serve them to you as an entr饠before dinner.

Set limits for each lake and a system of annual rotation have allowed the native brook trout (speckled trout) to multiply to the extent that it teems in most of the 135 lakes on our exclusive territory, thus providing exceptional fishing. Thanks to our many lakes, and given their relatively small sizes, we often have a single craft at a time per body of water, which allows the fishermen to indulge in their sport in total peace. It is also possible to fish for other species at Mekoos, where there are two lakes with walleye, six lakes with good populations of lake trout (lake char) and one lake with northern pike. And let's not forget the fabulous Li趲e river that borders our territory. It has a wide variety of species and its kilometres of rapids provide a special challenge to fly-fishing buffs. Since its creation, Mekoos Outfitters has always taken the management of its animals to heart. This allows us, even today, to provide and to maintain the exciting challenge for all who enjoy it - the hunting expedition. Our territory is in Zone 15 West. Apart from moose, which has always been around at Mekoos, there is a lot of white-tailed deer and black bear around today. These latter species have not been hunted here for the last several decades, allowing the bear to increase its population considerably while the deer was expanding its territory to the north.
